In Their Own Words: Student Testimonials
“Being a Baltao Scholar has truly been a blessing to me. I am blessed to have been one of the recipients of this scholarship during my college years. As a scholar, I strove to always do my best, not just to maintain the scholarship but rather to be an example to my co-students. As a former member of Pines City Colleges Academic Scholars' Organization(PiCCASO), I learned that with every privilege comes a responsibility. I was glad to be of service to the students, and this sense of service was instilled within me as I continue to do so even now, where I serve the community through a youth organization that envisions helping students reach their dreams.”
PENNY MA-LOU T. BERSAMINBS in Physical Therapy, 2023 “First, I would like to thank Pines City Colleges for giving me a full scholarship under the Eugenio S. Baltao Scholarship Grant (ESBSG). It was an immensely helpful scholarship grant that let me fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse.
The ESBSG grant has not only provided me with financial support, but it has also helped me to grow personally by socializing with other people through the activities organized by Pines City Colleges Academic Scholars' Organization (PiCCASO). As a way of giving back to the school, the organization has also given me the chance to help my fellow students who need information related to their lessons online, particularly during the pandemic. Being an ESBSG scholar is not easy, especially since I have to maintain an average grade. Despite the hardships, I was able to maintain my schoolwork until I graduated and finished my BS in Nursing. I would not have this bachelor's degree without the help of ESB Scholarship. Once again, thank you, Pines City Colleges, for the opportunity that you have given me. You have helped me and made me a nurse. God bless my alma mater!”
JOMAR T. SISONBS in Nursing, 2019 “I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the Eugenio S. Baltao Scholarship Grant (ESBSG) during my college years. It is indeed a great privilege to not only help us financially but also allow us to engage in a transformative experience that helped me grow as an individual. Finally, after four years of being a scholar, I am now a registered nurse. A milestone that would not be possible without the generosity of Pines City Colleges in helping students reach their dreams and fostering holistic development. I still remember back then when I firmly decided to study here in Baguio, right after I was accepted for the scholarship. This decision was all worth it, despite the distance from my hometown in Leyte to Baguio. I am not who I am today without their unwavering support through the ESBSG scholarship. Again, thank you so much, my alma mater. Mabuhay!”
MA. SOFIA A. ORZALBS in Nursing, 2023 “I am immensely grateful and forever proud to be a recipient of the Eugenio S. Baltao Scholarship Grant (ESBSG). No doubt, the scholarship grant plays a pivotal role in where I am now. I am a typical kid, not born with a silver spoon. And that taking a nursing degree is expensive, to which others say 'kursong mayaman'. Yet I am so lucky and humbled enough that I did not just pass the degree but was able to finish it with flying colors. All thanks to Sir Eugenio, and all praises to the Almighty. The two letters on my name (RN) are a living legacy and a proof of the grant and of my perseverance and commitment. I am not an RN today without ESBSG, so with my dear alma mater. Indeed, it opened doors of opportunity. Gabay PCC! Matago tago tako!”
ALLYN ROSE E. TAWANGBS in Nursing, 2023 “The Eugenio S. Baltao Scholarship Grant (ESBSG) has given me the privilege to study in college with a course in Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Since my parents are both farmers and I am the third child among the seven siblings, the scholarship was a big help to me and to my parents. I would like to thank the scholarship for helping me become a professional nurse today. Last, to the incoming freshmen, I am inviting you to try applying for this scholarship so that it will help you just as it helped me during my college days.”
CAREN L. BALANGOYBS in Nursing, 2023 “There are no words to describe and express my heartfelt gratitude to PINES CITY COLLEGES (PCC) for the opportunity to be a part of the EUGENIO S. BALTAO SCHOLARSHIP GRANT (ESBSG). Studying in PCC with the grant was a gift to be treasured forever. It supported me financially and it helped my parents as well whom I know have financial challenges. My parents are very thankful I studied in PCC where I found the ESBSG. ESBSG was really a blessing to me because the grant had been my motivation to improve myself academically. ESBSG was the reason I learned to teach myself discipline to attain good grades, to manage time and to learn constantly. I am also a proud member of the Pines City Colleges Academic Scholars Organization (PiCCASO). PiCASSO was indeed a family to me also. A family cared by school managers and advisers committed to help and guide students to graduate. God bless the proponents and implementers of ESBSG. I am now a registered nurse and forever be thankful to ESBSG for believing in me.”
JUDITH B. KIDMANOBS in Nursing, 2019 “Being an ESBSG scholar trained me to go beyond average. Aside from the free tuition, it gave me more time to focus on my development, which molded me into a student leader. Through this, I was allowed to collaborate with the great minds of educators, other scholars, and community leaders I've met in settings that required the effort of our academic scholars' organization (PiCASSO). It gave me a higher sense of responsibility towards the things I am tasked to do, not because it is what's expected of me but because carrying the title of being a scholar is a motivation itself. Maintaining the scholarship was a challenge, but it helped shape the capabilities I have now as a working professional. It has humbled me but also sharpened me to be more competitive in every way I can. This scholarship program is not just an escape from financial burden; it is a leverage to a network of handy learning opportunities.”
