Rooted in Legacy: PCC Celebrates 55 Years by Planting 550 Seedlings

Pines City Colleges celebrated its 55th anniversary with a significant environmental initiative. On September 28, students and volunteered employees gathered at Baguio City’s Botanical Garden for a tree planting event organized by the Community Engagement Service, led by Ms. Rowena T. Acacio through Project ANGELS. They planted 550 seedlings provided by the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO), promoting environmental preservation and community involvement. This initiative, started in 2009, continues in the area north of the botanical garden. The event not only marked the college’s milestone but also highlighted its dedication to sustainability and ecological responsibility.

The event ran from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., wherein the 175 volunteers were divided into groups according to their departments. This division not only ensured efficient planting but also highlighted the strong cooperation and unity within the PCC community. The activity was a testament to the PCC’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. The tree planting initiative served as a symbol of the institution’s dedication to nurturing a greener future.

This successful culmination of PCC’s 55th anniversary celebrations not only highlighted the institution’s commitment to education, community engagement, and environmental responsibility, but also fostered a sense of unity and purpose among participants. The newly planted trees will enhance Baguio City’s landscape, providing shade and improving air quality for future generations. This initiative stands as a lasting legacy of PCC’s dedication to sustainable development and its role as a steward of the environment. Such efforts reinforce the importance of cultivating a greener future, inspiring both current and future students to prioritize sustainability in their endeavors. #Ryvel B.
