Pines City Colleges-Senior High showcased its excellence at the 2025 District 8 Festival of Talents, securing multiple victories in various competitions held at Lucban Elementary School, Baguio City, on February 8, 2025. Grade 12 student Erryl Kate Mones emerged as the champion in the Histopop Speak Up! competition, triumphing over Pinsao National High School in a high-stakes impromptu speaking contest.

In the Likhawitan Song Composition competition, Grade 12 students Kurt Balicao and Gwynn Oppod took first place with their original song, “Panagbenga: Iyaman din Cordillera,” outperforming Guisad Valley National High School. PCC’s winning streak continued in the Sineliksik Filmmaking competition, where the team clinched first place with “Blossom Beyond Borders”—a film celebrating Panagbenga, culture, and heritage. The production was spearheaded by Grade 12 student Ghienger Ferrer alongside Zhedrick Napudo and Ryvel Singlan (Grade 11).
With these remarkable victories, PCC Senior High continues to set the bar high, showcasing the creativity, talent, and dedication of its students in academic and artistic competitions. The school secured second place in the Direk Ko, Ganap Mo competition, with Grade 11 students Sharmaine Lei Palangdao and Glyneeze Lopez showcasing their talent and creativity in the event.
“The competition was announced a week or two before, and it just so happened that it coincided with our sports fest, so it was hectic. I never thought we would win because we were given less time compared to other schools that would compete as well,” said Balicao. “Although we barely had enough time to practice, it really is a proud moment for us that we made it through and are about to face the Divisions soon. I never expected this, but I’m so thankful to everyone, especially to God, for this victory,” he added.
The Division Festival of Talents will be held in the fourth week of February, where the winning entries will compete for the Regionals. These victories showcase the excellence and talent of Pines City Colleges-Senior High students, not only in academics but also in various activities, including those that proudly represent the institution they belong to as they prepare to compete at the Divisions. # Erryl Kate D.
