PCC Intramurals 2025 Brings Community Together Through Wellness and Sports

The Pines City Colleges (PCC) Intramurals 2024-2025, a highly anticipated annual event, commenced with a resounding opening after a day filled with excitement, competition, and camaraderie. Held on March 7, 2025, at the PCC Gymnasium, this year’s intramurals embraced the theme, “Beyond the Game: Uniting Hearts and Minds for Community Wellness & Growth,” highlighting the significance of physical health, mental well-being, and social connection.

The gymnasium was flooded with a sea of colors as non-teaching staff, faculty, and student-athletes from various departments marched proudly with their team jerseys and colors, creating a vibrant parade of energetic atmosphere of spirited competition and camaraderie.

A standout moment of the opening ceremony was the inspirational talk by Mr. Elmer T. Batani, a renowned martial artist. Sharing his personal journey in martial arts, Mr. Batani encouraged the audience with his memorable words: “People change, but memories remain.” His message reminded the student-athletes to cherish the experiences and memories they would create during the event. He also highlighted the core values of discipline, perseverance, and dedication, urging students to pursue their goals with unwavering determination.

Following his speech, Mr. Jayson P. Belino, Head of Student Affairs and Services, officially declared the intramurals open. This was followed by a symbolic moment—the lighting of the torch—signifying the official start of the games. Team captains and muses then raised their flags, marking the beginning of the intramural competitions.

Adding to the excitement, the mascot and cheer dance competitions showcased the students’ creativity and talent. Each department presented mascots inspired by characters from Inside Out, bringing imaginative designs to life. The cheer dance competition featured high-energy performances, synchronized routines, and dynamic choreography that captivated the distinguished judges.

The results of the competitions were as follows: The College of Pharmacy emerged as the champion in the mascot competition, with the College of Dentistry claiming first runner-up and the College of Medical Laboratory Science taking second runner-up. In the cheer dance competition, the College of Dentistry claimed the championship title, the College of Pharmacy took first runner-up, and the Senior High School department earned second runner-up.

This year’s intramurals went beyond just sports competition—it was a celebration of unity, sportsmanship, and mutual respect. The event underscored the importance of fostering connections among students, showcasing teamwork, and building a strong sense of community. # Louisetine Jesse C. Tutaan, shs
