Baguio City, Philippines — April 21, 2026. The Pines City Colleges (PCC) successfully held its 11th Annual Institutional Research Forum with the theme “Educating Lifelong Learners through Research for a Healthier Community.” The event was organized under the supervision of Dr. Lany S. Paway, Research Director of the Research & Exhibit Center.
The forum highlighted the role of research as a developmental tool for both personal and professional growth, encouraging participants to go beyond academic requirements toward a habit of continuous inquiry and critical thinking. It also showcased evidence-based researches and strategies addressing regional health issues, bridging the gap between theoretical study and practical application
The program opened at the PCC Main Lobby, where Dr. Marian Grace Gascon, Vice President for Academic Affairs, warmly welcomed the participants, judges, faculty members, and staff in her inspiring remarks. This was followed by Dr. Paway’s overview of the event, during which she introduced the two categories of the research forum: Oral Presentation at the PT-AVR, and the Three-Minute Policy Pitch and Poster Presentation at the PCC Main Lobby. Both categories ran simultaneously, giving participants the opportunity to present their research in the same time.
Judges for the Three-Minute Pitch and Poster Presentation included Christopher Ian Gaerlan, Cherry Cawis, and Sheena Marie Tayaban, who evaluated the clarity, delivery, and impact of the presentations. Meanwhile, the Oral Presentation panel was composed of Dr. Rufina Abul, Francisco Soriano, and Rowena Acacio, who assessed the depth and quality of the oral research presentations.
The morning sessions featured presentations of both categories, while the afternoon was dedicated to the awarding ceremonies held at the PT-AVR.
In the Quantitative Study – Best Poster Presentation, the College of Nursing won first place with “Assessing the Disaster Risk Preparedness of Senior High School Learners in an Educational Institution in La Trinidad, Benguet”. The College of Dentistry secured second place with “Simulation-Based Training in Enhancing Confidence Level of Pre-Clinicians in Restorative Dentistry,” while the College of Respiratory Therapy placed third with “Factors Influencing Selected Senior High School Students in Choosing Respiratory Therapy as a Career Choice”.
For the Qualitative Study – Best Poster Presentation, the College of Nursing dominated with first and second place wins: “The Lived Experiences of Selected Post-Stroke Patients in Barangay Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet” and “Journey of International Students at Pines City Colleges”. The School of Medicine took third place with “The Unseen Battles of Working Adults Undergoing Hemodialysis”.
As to the Quantitative Study – Best Oral Presentation, the College of Nursing earned first place with “Knowledge and the Universal Healthcare Law among Residents of Purok 1 Bakakeng Central, Baguio City”. The College of Dentistry won second place with “Knowledge and Preparedness in Managing Medical Emergencies among Clinical Dentistry Students,” while the College of Pharmacy placed third with “Utilization of Overproduced Brassica Oleracea in Buguias, Benguet as a Sustainable Source of Film Coating Material in Paracetamol Tablets”.
On the other hand, Qualitative Study – Best Oral Presentation, the College of Nursing emerged as the winner with “Angels with Brooms: Work Experiences of Utility Aides”.
At the conclusion of the event, the Research & Exhibit Center formally acknowledged the participation of all colleges and departments. The annual forum once again highlighted PCC’s commitment to fostering a culture of research and innovation, empowering its academic community in co-creating equitable societal health for a healthier community. #Harry Boy Rocero
