The Pines City Colleges – College of Dentistry proudly marked its first participation in an international-level academic event during the 117th Philippine Dental Association (PDA) Annual Convention and Scientific Sessions, held on May 11–12, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City, Philippines.
The convention was part of a six-day gathering that featured interfaith services, the Presidents’ Dialogue, scientific lectures, dental hygienist and dental technologist forums, conferences, trade exhibits, and health and wellness services. The event brought together dental professionals, educators, researchers, and students from across the country and abroad.
On May 11 and 12, research presentations were conducted under the Oral and Poster Presentation categories. A total of 21 research entries from various colleges and universities participated, including Emilio Aguinaldo College Manila, Centro Escolar University Malolos, Cebu Doctors’ University, University of the East Manila, Universidad de Zamboanga, Lyceum-Northwestern University, Centro Escolar University Manila, University of Baguio, and Pines City Colleges.
PCC successfully secured a spot among the Top 5 shortlisted finalists, advancing to the question-and-answer portion of the competition. The team presented their study titled “Knowledge and Preparedness in Managing Medical Emergencies Among Clinical Dentistry Students.”
According to Ms. Diana, the team leader, “It was surreal because we did not actually aim to win; we simply wanted to participate and gain experience.” The team admitted that they did not expect to place in the competition, especially since their representative was unable to complete the allotted three-minute presentation pitch.
Following the awarding ceremony, the team expressed their gratitude and sense of fulfillment. They shared that conducting research while balancing academic duties and other responsibilities was one of the most challenging aspects of their student life. Nevertheless, the experience proved to be rewarding and motivating.
This achievement adds to the team’s growing list of accomplishments. Earlier this year, they also earned Second Place in the Quantitative Research Category for Best Oral Presentation during the 11th Annual Institutional Research Forum of Pines City Colleges, held on April 21, 2026.
The PCC College of Dentistry continues to demonstrate its commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and professional development, proudly representing the institution on larger academic and professional platforms. #ICA
