Pines City Colleges continues to uphold its mission of delivering holistic, high-quality education, fostering transformative interprofessional community engagement, and promoting evidence-based clinical practice among compassionate, lifelong learners. In line with this commitment, the College of Nursing has made significant strides in modernizing its laboratory capabilities and training resources. One of its key initiatives is the acquisition of high-fidelity manikins that provide comprehensive and immersive learning experiences. These advanced simulators enable students to develop hands-on clinical skills and sharpen their clinical judgment through realistic and interactive scenarios.

Among the notable acquisitions is the high-fidelity simulation manikin, “Nursing Anne,” which features a flexible operating system designed to demonstrate the fundamental concepts of nursing within a controlled environment. Additionally, an infant incubator is actively utilized to help students build competencies in neonatal care and develop appropriate intervention strategies for high risk newborns.
In the second semester of Academic Year 2025–2026, Pines City Colleges further expanded its simulation-based learning capabilities with the acquisition of another high-fidelity manikin, “Lucina.” This advanced childbirth simulator is capable of demonstrating both gravid and non-gravid scenarios, effectively replicating real-life medical situations. It allows students to practice prepartum, delivery, and postpartum care in a realistic setting.

The Lucina simulator also features a responsive fetus that cries upon delivery and can detect applied force, enabling learners to enhance their critical decision-making skills and refine their bedside maternal-fetal management techniques.
These continuous improvements in simulation-based learning experiences closely mirror real hospital settings, providing students with greater opportunities to hone their expertise and competence. They also foster teamwork, build confidence, and ensure that graduates are well-prepared to meet real-world healthcare demands.
Through these advancements, Pines City Colleges reaffirms its commitment to its vision of becoming a center of excellence in healthcare education, dedicated to co-creating equitable health solutions and responding effectively to both local and global healthcare needs which also is aligned with SDG 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”
