On April 27, 2024, in the heart of Pucsusan, Baguio City, a symphony of healing unfolded as Pines City Colleges (PCC), headed by Project Angels of the Community Extension Program (CES), orchestrated a collaborative effort among its diverse academic disciplines and student organizations. The College of Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, and Medical Laboratory Science, along with the steadfast support of the Supreme Student Council, Red Cross and the Pines City Colleges Academic School’s Organization (PiCCASO), set out on a transformative journey of health education and service.
PCC’s Project ANGELS aims to address a spectrum of healthcare needs within the community. The College of Nursing brought compassionate care and clinical expertise in head-to-toe and overall assessment, while Dentistry offered vital dental services to promote oral health. The College of Pharmacy ensured access to essential medications, the College of Respiratory Therapy provided respiratory care and education, and the College of Medical Laboratory Science lent its skills in diagnostics, enhancing the efficiency of healthcare delivery.
The Supreme Student Council and the Red Cross played pivotal roles in amplifying the impact of Project ANGELS. Through their organizational prowess and outreach efforts, they mobilized resources, recruited volunteers, and ensured the smooth execution of the mission. Their unwavering dedication transformed aspirations into tangible actions, uniting the student body in a shared commitment to serve.
PCC’s Extension Program served as the bridge between academia and the community, facilitating sustainable partnerships and initiatives. By embedding Project ANGELS within the fabric of Pucsusan’s social landscape, the program fostered long-term relationships built on trust and mutual respect. Through ongoing collaboration and needs assessment, it ensured that interventions remain responsive to evolving community needs.
As PCC’s Project ANGELS descended upon Pucsusan, it brought not only medical relief but also a message of solidarity and compassion. Within each interaction lies the embodiment of PCC’s ethos: to nurture not only proficient healthcare practitioners but also compassionate agents of change. Through this holistic approach, Project Angels ignited a beacon of hope, illuminating pathways to a healthier, more resilient community.
The activity embodies the transformative power of collaboration and service, extending to empowering the community through health education initiatives. The covered topics were all about hand hygiene, disease prevention, and management. By equipping residents with knowledge and skills, Project Angels fosters a culture of proactive healthcare engagement and self-empowerment. As it continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact, it serves as a testament to the enduring commitment of PCC to foster health, knowledge, and community well-being. #Louise Angelica S.
