On September 19, 2025, PCC’s project ANGELS under the Community Engagement (CES) and GRAB officially partnered to better serve the local community. This collaboration supports PCC’s community extension efforts and aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 1,3, 4, and 17). The initiative was the “GRAB Baguio Health and Wheelness 2025,” a one-day medical mission held at Quirino Hall, Teachers Camp.
The event, held on the same day as the partnership’s official commencement, provided essential health services and wellness programs to residents of Baguio an nearby areas. It marked a meaningful step toward promoting community health and social responsibility through a joint effort between the academe and the private sector. The event was open to all active GRAB members, including GrabFood riders, GrabTaxi drivers, and their immediate family members. It aimed to provide free, accessible healthcare services while also promoting wellness and preventive care among Baguio’s transportation frontliners.
The program began with a lively Zumba session that energized both the participants and volunteers, setting the tone for the day’s activities. This served not only as a warm-up but also helped alleviate stress, allowing everyone to start the day positively. The medical services began with the initial health encounter provided by the City Health Office. Triage and assessment were conducted by the College of Nursing from Pines City Colleges, ensuring each participant received the proper care pathway. Participants also benefited from the free laboratory tests, made possible by the College of Medical Laboratory Science. The dispensing of free medicines was managed by the College of Pharmacy. The event conducted with sleep apnea assessments and ECG screenings offered by the College of Respiratory Therapy.

Students and faculty from PCC’s College of Nursing, College of Medical Laboratory Science, College of Respiratory Therapy, College of Dentistry, and College of Pharmacy were fully present throughout the event. Their collective participation reflected PCC’s commitment to experiential learning and community engagement, giving students practical exposure while contributing to a meaningful cause.

According to Ms. Jaz Calaguas, Assistant Manager for Driver Operations and event coordinator, the contribution of PCC was instrumental in the success of the event. “We’re really thankfu to Pines City Colleges because it really helped us to make this event possible. This year’s event as an improvement with the help of different colleges,” she said. Ms. Calaguas also noted that unlike the previous year, this year’s mission included free laboratory test services and ECG screening, which greatly enhanced thee reach and value of the program.

Pines City Colleges continues to uphold its mission of service through hands-on involvement in initiatives like this. Beyond providing academic instruction, the institution remains deeply committed to instilling its core values (passion, integrity, excellence, and service) through real-world contributions that impact the community directly. #Iveeh Amparo
