PCC Library and Information Services Marks LIS Month with Exciting Student Activities

The PCC Library and Information Services (LIS) successfully wrapped its annua Library and Information Services (LIS) celebration, which is held every November, marking this year’s observance under the theme “Lace Up: Library – A Hub for Cultural Exploration and Unity through Partnership.” Conducted in line with the national celebration, the event highlighted the library’s vital role as a center for learning, research, and community engagement.

This year’s LIS Month focused on fostering a deeper appreciation for library resources and strengthening information literacy among the PCC community. A highlight of the celebration was a series of student competitions that encouraged creativity, academic curiosity, and engagement with library services.

Among the competitions, the Vlogging Contest was a standout event, with the College of Dentistry taking the top prize, followed closely by the Senior High School. Meanwhile, the Shelfie Contest, which challenged participants to creatively showcase their favorite library resources, was won by the School of Medicine, with the College of Dentistry and College of Respiratory Therapy rounding out the top three.

The event not only celebrated student talent but also underscored the library’s role in fostering a culture of learning and collaboration across PCC. By combining educational initiatives with fun and interactive activities, LIS Month successfully reinforced the library as a center for cultural exploration, academic excellence, and community partnership.

The celebration also aligns with global development goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, emphasizing lifelong learning opportunities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting collaboration within educational communities.

This year’s LIS Month at PCC has been a resounding success, leaving students, faculty, and staff inspired and reminded of the value of libraries in supporting education and Innovation. #Iveeh Amparo
