On May 6, 2025, first-year NSTP students from Pines City Colleges, specifically from the Doctor of Dental Medicine and Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs, demonstrated their compassion and commitment to community service through a meaningful outreach activity. The students donated sacks of dog and cat food, kilos of vegetables, and an animal cage to Furvent Animal Rescue and Advocacy, a non-governmental organization based in Tuba, Benguet, that is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating stray and abandoned animals.
Dentistry students personally delivered the donations to PetMedico, a partner veterinary clinic of Furvent located in San Luis, Baguio, Benguet, where Furvent staff later picked them up. This generous contribution supported the daily needs of over 160 dogs and 8 cats currently under Furvent’s care. This act of kindness reflects not only the students’ empathy but also the values of service, responsibility, and compassion instilled by their academic programs. It stands as a testament to the institution’s broader commitment to holistic education—an approach that cultivates not just intellectual development, but also social awareness and a deep sense of responsibility.
By extending their help to Furvent, the students have shown that kindness and concern should extend beyond human needs to all living beings. Their actions are a proud reminder of the institution’s mission to nurture active, compassionate citizens who contribute meaningfully to society—especially to its most vulnerable members, both human and animal. #Edrian Bulao, DDM
