A.Y. 2024 Student Services General Orientation

Pines City Colleges, August 30-31, 2024 — The Student Affairs and Services department, led by Sir Jayson Belino, conducted a two-day Student Services General Orientation aimed at freshmen, transferees, and returning students. This initiative is designed to familiarize students with the array of services available at the college and to provide an overview of the regulations, rules, and policies essential for their academic journey.

The orientation kicked off with a warm and inspiring welcome from Dr. Marian Grace Gascon, Vice President for Academic Affairs. In her opening remarks, Dr. Gascon extended a heartfelt welcome to the new freshmen and transferees, expressing her gratitude for their decision to join Pines City Colleges. She also offered a special acknowledgment to returning students, commending their dedication to advancing their education in allied health. Dr. Gascon emphasized the significance of joining Pines City Colleges, describing it as becoming part of a rich legacy. She highlighted that the institution has proudly produced over 25,000 healthcare professionals who have made notable contributions globally.

In a recent address, Mr. Belino provided a compelling explanation for why green is the official color of Pines City Colleges (PCC). According to Mr. Belino, the choice of green is deeply symbolic, reflecting the institution’s core focus on medical education and the study of human well-being. Green, he explained, is emblematic of life, nature, and the overall vitality of human existence—values that are central to PCC’s mission and vision. During the orientation, students were introduced to the school’s policies and rules, designed to create a respectful and disciplined learning environment.

The orientation featured comprehensive presentations on key student services, including Student Records, Government Financial Assistance, International Student Services, Student Accounts and Bookstore, Dental Services, Medical Services and Health Protocols, Library Services, Safety and Security Services, Student Wi-Fi, PCC Portal, Google ID, PCC Identification Card, and various ICT services. Additionally, students learned about Social Community and Involvement, Guidance and Counseling Services, Career and Job Placement, Scholarships and Discounts, Presentation of Academic Scholars, Testing Services, School Policies, Student Organizations and Activities, Student Discipline, Student Council/Government, Student Publication, Student Online Etiquette, GAWAD STARRS, and programs for Culture and Arts.

A standout moment of the orientation was the presentation by Supreme Student Council President Ms. Zhianella Rishun G. Vicente. She seized the opportunity to share her vision for upcoming projects and activities with the new students, offering them a glimpse into the dynamic campus life that awaits them. In addition, the Organization of Future Pharmacists set up a photo booth, allowing students to capture memories of their first PCC orientation. This initiative was not only a fun activity but also a symbolic gesture to commemorate the beginning of their academic journey.

The photobooth was a hit among the attendees. Decorated with vibrant backdrops and props that reflected the spirit of healthcare and the quote “Padayon Future Healers,” it became a popular spot for students to gather, laugh, and take photos. The photobooth not only provided a fun break from the informative sessions but also served as a bonding activity, helping new students forge friendships and create lasting memories. It captured the essence of the event, allowing students to document their experience and celebrate their journey together. The photobooth’s popularity was evident as there was a constant stream of students eager to take part, creating a lively and joyful

As the orientation concluded, it was evident that PCC is not just an educational institution but a nurturing environment where students’ dreams are cultivated. With the journey ahead filled with purpose and promise, PCC is committed to guiding its students as they discover their paths and contribute to the future of healthcare. #Collin Jaye Laguinday&Saleng, Lynch Devin
