PCC Senior High Students Clinches 4th place in STEMazing Competition

Pines City Colleges (PCC) Senior High School students secured 4th place in the division-level STEMazing Competition held at Baguio City High School on February 12, 2025. Representing PCC were Grade 12 students Kurt B. Balicao, Lindsay O. Garcia, and Kyle P. Salanga.

The competition challenged participants to develop a STEM-based solution for sustainable tourism management in Baguio City, balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability. Competing against nine schools in the Lucban Division, the PCC team presented their research, “Leave No Trace: Strategies for Sustainable Travel and Environmental Preservation.” Their proposal tackled issues such as traffic congestion, environmental degradation, and waste management resulting from over-tourism.

Their innovative solutions included policy amendments, expansion of electric vehicles, and promotion of eco-friendly tourism practices, offering a potential blueprint for the city’s sustainability efforts. Their outstanding research earned them a 4th-place finish. As they look forward to future competitions, PCC Senior High students remain dedicated to advancing their research and advocating for sustainable practices. Their success in the Division STEMazing Competition serves as both a milestone and an inspiration to their peers—proving that young minds can drive meaningful change. #Kyle P. Salanga
