PCC Commends Outstanding Students Through GAWAD PINES

Pines City Colleges honored exemplary students and organizations during the GAWAD STARSS Recognition and Awarding Ceremony held on May 8, 2026, at the PT Audio-Visual Room (PT-AVR). The event celebrated the achievements, leadership, and contributions of the students across various academic and co-curricular fields, recognizing individuals and groups who demonstrated excellence and active involvement within the institution and the wider community.


As the institution’s premier recognition program, GAWAS STARSS highlighted the outstanding accomplishments of students from various departments and educational levels. One of its major categories, GAWAD PINES, specifically recognized undergraduate students who exemplified the core values of Passion, Integrity, Nurturance, Excellence, and Service through their academic achievements, leadership, community involvement, and active participation in school initiatives.


The ceremony gathered nominees, award recipients, and student leaders in a celebration of dedication, responsibility, creativity, and teamwork. Organizers emphasized that the awards aim not only to recognize academic excellence but also to honor students and organizations that excel in leadership, community involvement, sports, arts, journalism, and institutional service.


According to the organizers, nominees and award recipients underwent a careful process of nomination and evaluation. Participants were required to submit evaluation papers and supporting documents containing their accomplishments, leadership roles, projects, participation in activities, and contributions to the school and community throughout the academic year.


Among the major recipients under the GAWAD PINES category were Novelyn Cayao, who received the Outstanding Student in Sports award; Charile Eirizz Vicente, who was recognized as Outstanding Student in Cultural and Performing Arts and Outstanding College Organization Leader; Dianamae Padam-os, who received the Outstanding Student in Community Engagement award.

Additionally, Krystal Dayrit, who earned the Outstanding Student in Campus Media/Journalism Award; Frances Ivory Remiendo, who was awarded Outstanding Institutional Organization Leader.

The Organization of Future Pharmacists was recognized as College Organization of the Year and also received the Innovation in Inclusivity and Student Welfare award, while the Pines City Colleges- Supreme Student Council received the Innovation in Social and Community Development award.

The organizers further stressed the importance of conducting recognition programs such as GAWAD STARSS, noting that these initiatives inspire students to continue striving for excellence not only in academics but also in leadership, service, sports, arts, and other extracurricular endeavors. The ceremony also served to strengthen students; confidence, encourage active participation, and motivate learners to become more responsible and engaged members of the school community.
