Strong Together: PCC and GRAB Forge a partnership for a Community Wellness

Pines City Colleges (PCC) was invited by GRAB to participate in an outreach activity on August 28, 2025 at Palew Elementary School, Tublay, Benguet. In assistance of Brigada Eskwela, the project concentrated on teaching pupils first aid and basic dental care under the banner of PCC’s flagship Community Engagement Services (CES) program, project ANGELS.

The outreach program, titled “Strengthening School and Community Preparedness through Dental Mission and Basic Life Support Training'” was conducted in partnership with the College of Dentistry and the College of Respiratory Therapy. A total of 178 students benefited from the services. Access to basic dental care remains a significant challenge for many in the area, making this initiative impactful.

GRAB drivers in Baguio also took an active role by raising funds to provide school uniforms, supplies, bags, and raincoats to the students, addressing not only their health needs but also their educational preparedness.

On PCC’s part, 35 volunteers, compromising faculty members, students, and staff, actively participated in the activity. The dental mission, led by the College of Dentistry, included oral health education, a proper toothbrushing demonstration, and fluoride application. Meanwhile, the Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid Training, conducted by the College of Respiratory Therapy, covered CPR, choking response, emergency first aid, hands-on practical sessions, and health education.

This collaboration reflects PCC’s ongoing commitment to serve and uplift communities through sustainable and compassionate outreach programs. Project ANGELS (Avenues in Networking and Linkages, Education and Health, Leadership, and Socio-civic Activities) continues to empower students to practice leadership and service in real-world contexts.

Beneficiaries of the outreach program expressed heartfelt appreciation for the free health services provided. Many Took the time to write letters of gratitude, sharing personal stories of how the medical check-ups, consultations, and treatments positively impacted their well-being. These messages highlighted not only the practical benefits of the event but also the sense of care and community it fostered. The outpouring of thanks served as a powerful reminder of the importance of accessible healthcare to a community.

As a result, health and safety are fundamental concerns in every community. Initiatives like promoting oral health and life-saving skills demonstrate the vital role of partnerships between educational institutions and the private sector in addressing real and pressing community needs. This outreach not only echoes PCC’s core values in education but also in active, meaningful community involvement. #Iveeh Amparo
